Uganda's Western Region
Queen Elizabeth National Park
The 2000 sqkm of Southwest Uganda straddling the equator and the western arm of East Africa’s Rift Valley known as the Queen Elizabeth National Park, is one of the most picturesque settings in the country. Bordered by the Rwenzori Mountains to the northwest and Lake Edward to the southwest, the Queen Elizabeth National Park wholly incorporates Lake George, split neatly by the Kazinga Channel.
Named by England’s Queen Elizabeth, the immense beauty of the park managed to leave quite an impression on the Queen when she visited in 1954. Witness the herds of animals that still roam free upon the park’s expansive terrain, a refreshing variance from the primate populated forests of QE’s neighboring parks.
