Uganda's Western Region
Semuliki National Park
Encompassing a secluded forest at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains, Semuliki National Park proves an ideal location in which to remove yourself from the remainder of the world. The only park composed primarily of tropical lowland forest, Semuliki is a refreshing variation from Uganda’s nearby highlights and a superb destination in which to enjoy the 400 bird species, 300 butterfly species and 8 primate species that inhabit the park.
Explore the plethora of microhabitats found in the park; the crystal hot springs that speckle the park; the Semliki River, a popular watering point for the indigenous wildlife; and the culturally intriguing Batwa Pygmy Villages, which offer an entirely different, but equally intriguing glimpse into Uganda’s native life.
