Uganda's Eastern Region

Jinja

The River Nile is undisputedly the greatest river in all of Africa, as well as the longest in all the world. Upon its banks, civilizations have born and passed, while throughout history its great mystery has lured valiant explorers in search of its source. However, it was not until 1862, that the remarkable John Speke succeeded in finding the very point from which this fabled river flowed, and today, a plaque commemorates his honorable discovery in the city of Jinja.

The second largest city in Uganda, Jinja, lies on the picturesque banks of Lake Victoria and claims itself as the source of the River Nile. Combined with its charming neighbor, Bujugali Falls, where adventure oozes around every corner, there are plenty of highlights to keep you occupied during your stay.

Raft the turbulent rapids of the River Nile, or venture by quad bike to the surrounding villages and countryside on the banks of the River.
