Uganda's The Retreat Uganda
The Retreat Uganda
The Retreat Uganda is a bed and breakfast in a stone villa in the upmarket Luzira area of Kampala. It is the home of Jane Hockin, who came to Uganda for a short visit, and loved it so much she decided to stay. Like many Kampala homes, the Retreat sits behind high gates amongst tropical gardens bursting with fruit, flowers and trees. Entering the house, you walk straight into an airy kitchen and sitting room, and the bedrooms are set off to either side of this. There are four bedrooms, two twin and a single with en suite bathrooms and one further single bedroom with an en suite loo. The walls are painted in soft neutral colors, the floors are tiled, and carved African furniture is scattered around the house. In front, sliding doors open onto a small veranda, where breakfast is taken in the mornings. For evening meals, Jane has plenty of recommendations for great restaurants, and will be more than happy to help you organise a taxi to head out into town.
