Reserve Forestiere de Kirindy
A landscape of dry deciduous forest, the Reserve Forestiere de Kirindy encompasses much of this, the world’s most threatened habitat type. Covering 10,000 hectares, Kirindy holds the world record for primate density, as well as the world’s smallest primate, the pygmy mouse lemur.
Known as the Swiss Forest, Kirindy is the best place to witness the giant jumping rat, as well as the country’s largest predator, the fosa, and a number of spiny tenrecs, rare birds, and indigenous reptiles.
