The archeological treasures that lie within Ethiopia’s Northern Region are rivaled only by that of Egypt…and even that remains open for discussion. A labyrinth of rock hewn churches paints the landscape of Lalibela. Ornate pre-Christian tombs underlie centuries old obelisks in ancient Aksum. Ancient monasteries, religious artifacts, and 17th century castles preside over the serene waters of Lake Tana. And, while Northern Ethiopia’s historical attributes provide more than enough to captivate for an eternity, this is only half the delight.
Amidst the perfectly painted landscape of this region, find endless canyons, chasms, and gorges abreast the heavenly plateaus of the Simien Mountains.
