Botswana's Kalahari Desert
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
The first of 8 frontier parks destined to be created throughout Southern Africa, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park sets a superior standard for those to follow. Its exemplary absence of man made barriers allows Kgalagadi to provide a conservation area large enough to support two ecological phenomena that once spread across the continent. The first being the large scale migratory movements of wildlife, and the second, the predation by large mammalian carnivores.
A vast area of pristine countryside displays scenes of sprawling dunes carpeted in low lying vegetation, expansive landscapes of open grasslands, thick scrub bush and dense woodlands. Climber would be remiss to miss the massive red dunes located in the southern region of the park, and wildlife enthusiasts are sure to adore the diverse wildlife the park supports.
